The Heritage Club started its functioning in the college from 01-11-2014, with the mission “to inculcate pride among the people to our own culture and heritage”.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  1. To develop an awareness on importance of our culture and heritage among the students.
  2. An initiative to understand what happened in our hometowns and villages and to create a cultural knowledge that will enrich our local heritage.
  3. To understand the experiences of the older people of our community, who have experienced great events and hardships, known good and bad times and have been part of great historical times.
  4. Identify the local historical and archaeological sites and organize visits to these places.
  5. Collection, conservation and documentation of artifacts.
  6. Collection of folk songs and folk materials from the locality

Activities of the Club (2019-20)

  1. A quiz programme was organized for the students on “Indian National Movement and our Heritage” on 01-11-2019.
  2. A Debate was conducted on Influence of Postmodernism in History on 06-01-2020. Sri. Ranjithkumar A.P. Asst.Professor of History was the moderator of the programme.
  3. An awareness programme on the importance of protecting our antiques, heritage and local resource was organized on 14-01-2020. The session was handled by Dr. Sheeba K.A, Assistant Professor of History.
  4. The Club has organized a One Day workshop on Methodology of Writing Local History on 10-02-2020. Dr. Rajesh K.P, Assistant Professor, NSS College, Manjeri was the resource person of the programme.
  5. The members of Heritage Club took initiative to organize a collection campaign Day on 11-02-2020 for collecting artifacts to the heritage museum.
  6. Members of Heritage club visited the megalithic site at Pannimukku, Perambra on12-02-2020

  8. A webinar was organized by the club on “History and Heritage”, on 18-12-2020. The session was handled by Dr. Abhilash Malayil, Assistant Professor of History.
  9. A field visit was organized on 06-01-2021 to Kunnirampally (near mosque) where megalithic remains found recently
