The Department of English in CKGM Govt. College Perambra became a full-fledged department in 2018 by introducing BA Programme in English Language and Literature. Until 2017 the department functioned as one that offered only common courses for other programmes. Now the department has five full time faculty members and one part-time faculty.

Vision

Moulding socially responsible and imaginative citizens who are creatively engaged in producing knowledge that can contribute to development of the nation through inclusion of the marginal.

Mission

1. To provide skills of language in the best possible manner to students to equip them for obtaining respectable status in society.

2. Empower the students with the faculty of imagination for creative involvement in social issues and to become policy decision makers.

3. To train the students to become better academicians with persistent scholastic engagement in higher levels of knowledge production.

4. To contribute knowledge and life skills for the members of immediate community for reimagining social life.

5. To evolve as knowledge resource centre in literature and art for the use of future research.

6. To become a futuristic training centre for language and cultural studies by incorporating state of the art technology into teaching-learning and research.
